The Child Abuse of Father Paul Raymond Evans

Father Paul Raymond Evans began his religious career with the Salesians of Don Bosco order. He started as a Brother and later became ordained as a priest in 1983. He worked at Boys’ Town in Engadine, Sydney, during the late 1970s and 1980s, where he served as a Dormitory Master.

After his time at Boys’ Town, he moved to Melbourne to complete theological studies and worked at various Salesian institutions, including the Don Bosco Youth Club and Salesian College in Brooklyn Park, Adelaide. He was later transferred to different parishes in New South Wales, such as St Patrick’s Parish in East Gosford and Kincumber Parish on the Central Coast.

Father Evans was known as the “King of the Kids” due to his close ties with youth groups. However, his career was marred by serious allegations and convictions of sexual abuse against minors.

Father Paul Raymond Evans was associated with several institutions during his career. Notably, he served at:

  • Boys’ Town, Engadine, New South Wales: A residential institution for troubled youths operated by the Salesians of Don Bosco, where Evans worked as a dormitory master and teacher from 1977 to 1988.
