Trevor Halse – Scout Leader – A Call For Witnesses
Koffels Solicitors & Barristers are looking for witnesses who could provide any information on Trevor Halse, who we understand was a volunteer Scout Master in Queensland, South Australia and New South Wales.
Trevor Halse has a history of convicted sexual offending against peripubertal boys from 1961 to 2015 in South Australia and Queensland.
Trevor Halse was convicted in South Australia in 1984 and jailed for nine months for a number of indecent assaults. Trevor Halse was also given a suspended sentence in 2008 for two indecent assaults on young males when he was a person of authority in the Scouts Movement in South Australia.
Trevor Halse was then convicted in Maroochydore District Court in 2016 for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy and sentenced to 18 months in prison.
In 2018, the Director of Public Prosecutions in South Australia considered Halse such a rapacious and unrepentant sexual predator that they sought an indefinite detention order. The Supreme Court of South Australia declined this request.
Trevor Halse would access his victims through his volunteering as a Scout Master or by employing boys at his own business.
We encourage anyone with any information about Trevor Halse’s involvement in Scouts or his perpetrating to contact us. We would like to hear from potential victims, fellow Scout Masters or other members of the Scouting Association. We are acting in a matter involving the 1st Gilberton Scout Group, South Australia.
